Who are we?
The Ukelele band with a difference, Hylton Ukes was formed in 2014 through The Cultural Spring workshop programme when weekly Ukulele classes were held at the Hylton Castle Workingmen's Club.
With continued interest the workshops ran year on year as the group grew in size and ability. Now the group has become popular, has become a constituted club and has performed at a number of events. In previous years the band has played at the Summer Streets music festival, at The Point in Sunderland City Centre and have also played the main aduitorium of The Customs House in South Shields as well as other venues around the North East.
As players progress they have the opportunity, if they so desire, to join the performing band and gain an insight into performing on stage and all that that involves.
When do we meet?
Hylton Ukes meet every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Hylton Castle Workingmen's Club, Cricklewood Road, Sunderland, SR5 3SP (Map) from 7pm - 9pm. There are no fees to join and all meetings are completely free. We are keen to gain new members and all abilities are welcome so if you are interested in playing the ukulele why not come along and get involved?
Hylton Ukes wish to acknowledge the assistance given by Cultural Spring and principally Dominic Naughton in the creation of this website.
